Easily done.
But first you must saturate the wood with cyanoacrylate adhesive(super glue) and let it harden completely, this makes the wood more akin to hard plastic allowing it to be sanded/milled to very thin dimensions with good strength and stability.
It would probably even work with MDF, maybe requiring multiple applications.
